Mud Gas Separator

Mud Gas Separator is a special device for the primary degassing for gas-invasion drilling fluids. It is mainly used to reduce large bubbles with diameter ≥φ3mm in the gas-invasion drilling fluids. These large bubbles refer to the most expanding gas in drilling fluids that fill certain sections of the wellbore annulus. It is easy to induce well gushing and even blow out the surface of the drill pad if not removed. The Mud Gas Separator body is made of high-quality materials, which can effectively prevent harmful gases corrosion such as hydrogen sulfide and ensure safe production of humans and machines. When drilling fluids produce gas intrusion, its specific gravity and viscosity will deviate greatly, which cannot meet drilling requirements. In severe cases, if it is not treated in time, it will cause well kicks and even blowout accidents.

Working principle

Gas intrusion drilling fluid from Mud Gas Separator enters the separator tangentially from the liquid inlet of the separator, and falls on a series of specially designed internal baffles along the inner wall, colliding, increasing exposed surface area and flowing downward, causing turbulence to separate gas from drilling fluid. Free gas is discharged through the gas outlet on top of the separator. Exhaust pipe length is determined and equipped on-site and led to a safe place, degassed drilling fluid is discharged into mud circulation tank.
