What Does Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) Mean?

Apr 28, 2023

Horizontal directional drilling (HDD) is a trenchless construction method used to install pipes underground without disturbing the ground surface, where trenching needs to be avoided such as under a railroad, an embankment, highway, and beneath lakes and rivers. HDD is used in situations that allow for an angled installation, and requires adequate space to set up a drill pad at the rig site.

It is also now possible to install pipelines under busy city streets without disrupting the flow of traffic and affecting businesses with advanced HDD steering technology.

HDD has become a choice alternative to conventional pipe-laying methods that require opening up the earth’s surface up to the depth of installation for the entire pipeline route.

HuaYang Oil & Gas offers horizontal directional drilling (HDD) mud recycling system to construction, pipeline, oil & gas field and utility clients, and our combined expertise has been sought on numerous projects at home and abroad.
