What is Decanter Centrifuge Used for?

The centrifuge is kind of a centrifugal separation equipment. The scroll decanter centrifuge is commonly used in the drilling site on the basis of solid-liquid density difference as the separation. It is mainly used to remove 2~10μm solid phase substances in the drilling fluid. It's the last stage of drilling fluid solids control equipment.

The specifications of the centrifuge are expressed by the length and maximum diameter of the drum: there are 18 × 24 inches, 14 × 22 inches, 14 × 20 inches (diameter × length) and other specifications. There are also specifications based on the processing capacity. The processing capacity of the machine is 40 m3/h or 60 m3/h. The bowl of the centrifuge rotates at 1500-3500 revolutions per minute (r/min). The screw conveyor generally rotates in the same direction as the drum with a speed difference of 1:80, which can generally remove 2~3 microns of solid phase particles for weighted and non-weighted drilling fluids.

The separation of the centrifuge mainly uses the centrifugal force generated by the high-speed rotation of the centrifuge rotor, which accelerates the sedimentation speed of the particles in the liquid, and separates the substances with different sedimentation coefficients and buoyancy densities in the liquid.
